Barbara’s Fish Trap, Half Moon Bay, CA
If you love seafood and have a super hearty appetite, Barbara’s Fish Trap is your restaurant. The portion here is enormous. Just order their special Barbara’s Fish Trap appetizer sampler and you will understand what I am talking about. That alone could feed two healthy adults and you will be boxing up most of your entree and dessert.
I am a wuss so I only ordered the mini Neptune’s sampler. You get a good variety of deep fried seafood including fish, scallop, calamari and shrimp. The seafood was fresh but the batter is slightly too oily. The clam chowder was not that great. The soup base was too thin and a bit too salty.
The restaurant gets really busy but the wait wasn’t terrible. It is cash only but there is an ATM machine outside. Food wasn’t cheap but the portion size made up for it.
I love this place! fucking love the fried mushrooms there.
